Jaclyn Young

"There can be no other way to put it than to just say it up front, THANK YOU ALL for allowing me to receive this scholarship for the upcoming school year.  I will enter my fall semester without the usual fear when paying tuition balances and purchasing books and supplies.  I am ready to start this next semester and of course I'm more than ready to finish this chapter of my life and to start on the next.

I do not know how many years Mr. Metheny has been awarding these scholarships, but I do know that there has to be a great number of students and former students that will remember his generosity for their entire lives.  I also believe there is a good chance that I may run into another recipient down the road sometime."

Jill Laurie

"I would like to thank the Mid-South Sign Association and Mr. Steve Metheny for awarding me the MSSA scholarship. This is my second year receiving the scholarship and I really appreciate it! I will be starting my sophomore year at the University of Tennessee at Martin and will have money to apply towards textbooks and other material I may need. I’m also hoping to study abroad one semester in Japan soon and the money I have been awarded by the Steve Metheny will help me achieve my goal! Thank you to Mr. Steve Metheny and everyone else who helps put this together every year. I look forward to meeting many of you at the conference this year!"

Katharine Wilson

"Hello my name is Weston Stofel, and I am a recipient of the Steve Metheny Scholarship. I am currently going into my senior year at the University of Tennessee at Martin. I have received this scholarship three out of the four years for my degree. I was un-eligible for last year because we could not attend the sign convention. This past year we did make it.

This scholarship has been a great blessing to me and my family. The money provided has allowed me, along with other scholarships, to pay for my college tuition without student loans. As I go into my senior year, I am looking to the future and how I will add to our family business. I love the sign business and enjoy the work we do every day. Every summer I have worked on the road crew at Columbia Neon. I am extremely grateful to receive this scholarship and hope to contribute to MSSA one day so other aspiring students can get a higher education."

Weston Stofel

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all who are involved within the MSSA Scholarship program and assure them that their efforts will help me in so many different ways. Receiving this scholarship will cover my entire fall 2016 tuition for Florida State College at Jacksonville and aid in allowing me to save money for my future transfer to Florida State University in Tallahassee. This is my second year receiving the scholarship and I feel it will be just as beneficial now as it was in 2015."

Andrew Morris

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in selecting me to be a recipient of the Steve Metheny Scholarship Foundation. I am honored to be chosen as a recipient of this award.

I am currently a junior majoring in Accounting at Louisiana State University. I plan to graduate in May 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree and then attend Graduate school to obtain my Master’s in Accounting.

While attending LSU full-time, I also have a part-time job to help pay for tuition and gain experience. It is not always easy to juggle work and school therefore, I am truly grateful for the assistance that I am receiving because of this scholarship. When I graduate, I hope that I can use what I learned at LSU to make a difference in people’s lives, the same way that you have made a difference in mine."

Amy Speer

"Thank you so much for being such a generous organization. Without your help last year the cost of my school would have been a huge financial burden to my family. Your continued support for students like me continues to motivate me to help others and to try my best in school to make the most out of the opportunities I have been given. My school, Rhodes College, is amazing. Without your help though I would not be able to afford such a spectacular school. I can’t thank you enough for your generous gift."

Connor Ross
